Educational use only. Hyroshi Tanaka is a retired technician and a channel persona, not a licensed or currently-practicing automotive professional. These guides share real maintenance intervals and traditional, overbuild-and-maintain methods drawn from years on the bench and publicly available service information. They are not professional advice for your specific vehicle, fault, or situation, and they do not replace the factory service manual or a qualified diagnosis.

Safety-critical work — defer to a licensed mechanic. Some jobs carry a real risk to your life and others on the road if done incorrectly. Always have a licensed, qualified mechanic perform anything safety-critical: brakes and ABS, airbags and the supplemental restraint (SRS) system, steering, suspension and other load-bearing parts, fuel systems under pressure, and high-voltage hybrid or EV systems. If you are unsure about any procedure, stop and consult a professional. Use the correct tools, follow the factory procedure and torque specifications, and support a vehicle properly before working under it.

Emissions equipment — never tamper. Defeating, deleting, removing, or otherwise tampering with emissions-control equipment — including the EGR, diesel particulate filter (DPF), and catalytic converter — is illegal under the U.S. EPA and the Clean Air Act and may violate state law. These guides never advise it and you should never do it. All methods here are legal, factory-specification maintenance only.

Parts, fluids, and specifications. Any part, fluid, or specification named — such as ATF WS, an oil viscosity grade, a ZF 8HP transmission, or an OEM filter — is referenced neutrally and for identification only, with no endorsement. Always confirm the correct part and specification for your exact vehicle against the factory information, and follow the manufacturer's procedure and intervals. Use only fluids and parts that meet the required specification.

No company or person accused. Where these guides describe the up-sell service model, the 'lifetime fluid' framing, or the throwaway-car economy, that is a general observation about a system and a set of practices, not an accusation against any named company, dealer, or person. No real brand, company, or individual is named as a wrongdoer.

Results vary; no outcome promised. Vehicle longevity depends on the specific car, climate, driving conditions, prior history, and maintenance you cannot control. No specific result — including any mileage figure — is guaranteed. Stories, owners, and shop anecdotes are composite illustrations from a lifetime in the trade, with names and details changed for privacy. Use all methods at your own risk and within your local laws.
